Pretty, quiet holiday destination based around a little inlet harbour that divides the resort into east and west. Much of the accommodation is to the west, where there are more restaurants and shops, and the larger hotels. Attractive restaurants hang to the cliff path overlooking the harbour, most of them specialising in fish.

Come down from the main cross roads by the shops in the western half of Sissi to access little pebble harbour beach. More sandy beaches are to the farthest east and west, each being in front of luxury hotel complexes, but fully open to the public.

About 45 walk along the coast from Malia (eastwards). Accessible to the National Road only via connecting roads at east Sissi (into Epano Sissi) and Agia Varvara to the west. A limited bus service runs from the town to the National road – you have to be up early to catch it!
